Double Reading

Steve Hamilton

Stolen Season

Jason Starr

Lights Out

Joint Reading • Q&A • Signings

Stolen Season is Steve Hamilton's 7th Alex McKnight adventure. Upper Peninsula Michigan is cold even in the summer, but the action is white hot, as Alex works to save his closest friends from the machinations of mysterious thugs who have made Lake Superior their own private playground..

The UP is pretty much as far as you can get away from anything in the states, but that doesn't keep trouble from finding McKnight. Trying to enjoy the July 4 th fireworks on a particularly dank and stormy night., McKnight and his friends are the only witnesses as a speeding boat wrecks on chilly Lake Superior. The boaters, however, are strangely miffed after being plucked from the freezing waters and soon there are menacing strangers nosing around in McKnight's life.

As McKnight tries to figure out what kind of trouble these men have brought to the UP, he is led back to his old stomping ground in Detroit and across the border into Canada. It all circles back to the chilly depths of Lake Superior as he battles to keep trouble out of Paradise.

In Lights Out Jason Starr takes another tour through the underbelly of Brooklyn. Ryan Rossetti and Jake Thomas came up together on the mean streets of Canarsie and both saw baseball as their ticket out. Ryan blows out his pitching arm and never leaves, Jake goes on to the Bigs.

Jake wants to return in triumph to the old nabe, celebrate his $10 million signing bonus and his engagement to Christine, his high school sweetheart. But Ryan's still thinking of the baseball glory that he'll never get, plus he's got a thing going with Christine, which just might derail Jake's plans for a perfect wedding. Meanwhile there's an ex-con, Saiquan, cruising the streets looking for payback on an old gang shooting. Since everybody's so intently working their own angle, they can't see the inevitably spectacular smashup that's bound to happen when all their schemes collide.

In Jason Starr's Brooklyn the classic competition of two friends for the love of the same woman, becomes a story of nail-biting suspense and explosive action..
