Spanning
the World: Filip Bondy Bleeding
Pinstripes: Reading • Talk • Booksigning Two New York Sports journalists, Len Berman of the popular sports anchor at NBC, and Filip Bondy, award-winning sports columnist for the New York Daily News, come to Bryant Park for the final event in the summer 2005 series. The duo will provide entertaining anecdotes from some of today’s most famous sports stars. Much like his popular “Spanning the World” segment on the Today show, Berman shares his favorite bloopers and his most beloved memories of the Super Bowls, Olympics, World Series, NBA Finals and all the other events he’s covered during his career. Bondy takes us into a world where diehard fans, inter-sectional squabbles and pre-game barbecues rule within the bleachers.
Filip
Bondy is an award-winning sports columnist for the New York
Daily News. He has traveled from Doha, Qatar, to Harare, Zimbabwe, while covering
some very famous and some extremely obscure sports events. Bondy’s
reports and humorous diaries have chronicled Wimbledon, the Olympics, the
World Cup, and camel racing. Closer to home, he created the "Bleacher
Creature" feature
that gave a public voice to the boisterous fans in Section 39 at Yankee Stadium.
Bondy has been a columnist with The News since 1993, following a stint
at The New York Times. WORD FOR WORD is a Bryant Park lunchtime series presented in cooperation with Coliseum Books. Notable authors discuss their newest books at the Bryant Park Reading Room, alongside 42nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. Following the readings, the authors will sign books, for sale on site from Coliseum Books. In case of rain, this event will be moved to the Coliseum Books Café. |
