Augusten Burroughs is the # 1 bestselling author of Magical Thinking: True Ttories, Dry: A Memoir, Running with Scissors: a Memoir and Sellevision, a novel. A film version of Running with Scissors starring Annette Benning and Gwyneth Paltrow was adapted for the screen by Ryan Murphy. His work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Guardian U.K., The London Times and Out. Augusten writes a monthly column for Details magazine and was a regular commentator for NPR's Morning Edition. In March 2003, Augusten was named to Entertainment Weekly's annual list of "The 25 Funniest People in America."

David Rakoff is a regular contributor to Public Radio International’s This American Life, GQ, and Outside. He has also written for the New York Times Magazine, New York Observer, Vogue, and Salon, among other publications. His first book, Fraud was a national bestseller. He lives in New York City.


 

WORD FOR WORD is a Bryant Park lunchtime series presented in cooperation with Coliseum Books. Notable authors discuss their newest books at the Bryant Park Reading Room, alongside 42nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. Following the readings, the authors will sign books, for sale on site from Coliseum Books.

In case of rain, this event will be moved to the Coliseum Books Café.
